Setting our sights on a “soulful modern” vibe, we transformed this recently-built home at the base of the mountains in the Little Tuscany neighborhood fusing brutalist materials with lush texture and organic amorphic shapes. Immediately after purchasing their Palm Springs winter home with lots of potential but showing the result of plenty of builder-standard design decisions, our vibrant, early-retired clients from the Pacific Northwest came to us looking for help. Drawn to a rock-and-roll vibe but keen on sophisticated minimal brutalist desert modern design, they directed us to design a home that would be unlike anyone else’s, reflect their true rebellious personality, and challenge people when encountering it. We incorporated plenty of custom furniture, tile, and wallcoverings to deliver on that, including a flat sink quartz slab countertop in the powder room, where the water seemingly vanishes into tiny perforated holes, astonishing the user.
